ACC Sensitive Claims Counselling

ACC funds counselling for people who have been affected by inappropriate sexual behaviour. This funding is only available for counsellors registered by ACC. Dr Smith is a registered ACC counsellor.

Who is eligible?

Any adult or child who is sexually abused in New Zealand and suffers a “mental injury” because of the abuse.

How do I apply for ACC counselling?

Call Dr Smith and she will set up an appointment with you.  ACC funds two sessions for you to meet with a counsellor, discuss your situation and work out what steps you wish to take.

How much does counselling cost?

Initial sessions are fully funded by ACC, as are on-going sessions if ACC accepts your claim.

ACC Psychological Services

ACC provides psychological services in situations where a mental injury has occurred because of a physical injury or there is a work-related mental injury.  These services are free, but a referral by ACC is needed. Dr Smith is accredited to provide these services.
